Top 10: Actors Who Stopped Getting Typecast

This gallery contains 11 photos.

Ricky Gervais loves being typecast, he says that actors should do what they do best and not feel the pressure to play different parts.

However, this is clearly not the view of a lot of actors who seem to be trying to shake their ‘character’. Some have not been successful, such as Jack Black and Adam Sandler, who forever play the School of Rock and Happy Gilmore type casts.

Meanwhile other actors have been successful in breaking free from their typecast, and are in all sorts of films now…. Continue reading

22 Jump Street

This gallery contains 2 photos.

22 Jump Street certainly didn’t match up to its prequel, 21 Jump Street.

This one was long and had as many topless scenes of Channing Tatum as possible… I’m assuming this was written into his contract..?

I didn’t find it as funny as the first one because it was so ridiculous. It was similar to the first but more outrageous. Although, I’m sure the Jump Street fans won’t be disappointed.

The amount of references to the first film kept the cookie-cutter-comedy fresh. The movie made fun of itself, hinting at… Continue reading

This is the End

This gallery contains 4 photos.

If you enjoyed The Hangover, Ted, 21 Jump Street and Superbad, then you will probably love this movie.

It is about the end of the world and how it affects the Hollywood stars in Los Angeles. Their public image is mocked and they play to their weaknesses. Like, what do you reckon Michael Cera, Jonah Hill and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are like at a party? Yeah, they play to your assumptions which is quite hilarious.

It is a movie that makes fun of every actor’s reputation, with Jonah Hill being the funniest.

As the world’s end comes to a close, those who did not get saved and go to heaven have to stay on Earth to fight for their survival. Pretty much every Hollywood star did not get accepted into heaven, including Emma Watson, Rihanna and Paul Rudd. So as… Continue reading

Megamind

This gallery contains 4 photos.

This animation is one of the most enjoyable ones I have seen. The best animations are ones where they are enjoyable for more than one age group, which Megamind certainly is! Great for the younger audience as well as for teenagers and adults.

It’s about a blue alien named Megamind (Will Ferrell) who grew up on Earth causing destruction and trouble, and his arch nemesis Metro Man (Brad Pitt) who is the city’s ‘super hero’. It’s a classic good guy/bad guy relationship which becomes a game to Megamind, until he finally defeats Metro Man and realises that the success he had always strived for was not as rewarding as he had thought… Continue reading

21 Jump Street

This gallery contains 1 photo.

So it’s not the typical genre that I would watch at the cinema, so my expectations were somewhat low.

However, I am happy to say that this film was certainly a good laugh! I did enjoy it.

I guess it was specifically marketed at the Gen-Y population – I couldn’t see my parents enjoying it, and certainly not anybody younger than me!

It surprised me that it was the same directors as Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs – what a change in genre!! Continue reading
