Interstellar

This gallery contains 6 photos.

If you loved Gravity and Inception, you’ll love Interstellar.

The time travelling concepts in this movie are easy to grasp if you’re familiar with the sci-fi genre. If you can keep up with Doctor Who, you’ll keep up with this.

It’s set in the future where scientists are aware that crops are failing and the end of the world could be near. NASA is attempting to find another planet so that the human race can continue… Continue reading

Now You See Me

This gallery contains 4 photos.

Um. Yeeeeaaaah. So the reviews I had been reading before I went to see Now You See Me, basically stated that it was over-complicated and so layered that one would need to watch it more than once.

This is quite simply, not the case.

It is so clichéd, so typical, so obvious, that the ending could be guessed half way through the film.

The ‘twist’ is… Barely even a twist. It wasn’t shocking or unforeseen at all. My reaction was more like, “oh yeah. Hmm. I’m not surprised”… Continue reading

The Prestige

The Prestige is an incredible movie with real mystery and thrilling themes, like nothing you have ever seen before. Its dark and haunting aesthetic with the ruthless, deceitful, cut-throat and competitive characters makes an extremely intense film.

It is the story of strong-willed magicians who guard their incredible tricks of illusions with their lives resulting in sacrifices way beyond their expectations as their hunger for dominance of rival magicians runs riot.

Of course, I can’t forget to mention the era that this movie is set in, the late 1800s. I wouldn’t mind living in those times… Only if I was very wealthy of course. Beautiful dresses, old school showmanship, horse and carts and the thrill of newly discovered electricity.

With the complexity of Nolan’s Inception, the grungy look of The Dark Knight, but with a hint of total tragedy, this is just another of Christopher’s incredible creations… Continue reading

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

This gallery contains 4 photos.

Perhaps my expectations were simply too high. I loved the 2008 Dark Knight so much that I expected this film to be equally as captivating and shocking… Just in a different way due to the obvious absence of Heath Ledger… *sigh*. Of course it was epically shot with… Continue reading

The Dark Knight (2008)

This gallery contains 2 photos.

Oh. My. God. What a spectacular film! Well made – as per usual – with incredibly talented actors from the late Heath Ledger to Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. The epic music made shivers go down my spine! The total lack of humanity that Batman’s enemy, The Joker, has put me on edge. This is by far, the best superhero film I have seen. Continue reading

The Actors

This gallery contains 4 photos.

It’s intelligent-funny… Not happy-clappy, seen it before, recycled Hollywood shizz. With Dylan Moran playing the protagonist and the supporting act being Michael Caine, this concoction of pure awesome is sure to be a pleaser.

Surprisingly, this film is not well-known. But it is a film everybody would enjoy with it’s ironic plot line and an under-lying love story which I am happy to say, doesn’t take centre-stage regularly… Continue reading

Inception

This gallery contains 4 photos.

Wow! If you liked the Matrix you’ll like this!

A mind-twisting film which demands the full attention of viewers as it’s not an ‘easy watch’. By that, I mean that a passive audience is not going to be handed the complex idea of dream inception and deep characters on a platter.

Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the primary dreamer or extractor hired by a corporation-owner, Mr Saito (Ken Watanabe) to plant a lucrative idea into Robert Michael Fischer’s (Cillian Murphey) mind via a dream.
This is to encourage him to decide to break up the energy conglomerate which he recently inherited to make way for Saito’s company. Continue reading
